The Birds (1963)

Hitchcock was in a creativity crisis when he directed Psycho. The producers questioned him and limited his budget. People were saying Hitchcock was over, but thanks to Psycho, which ended up being an incredible hit, Hitchcock was back with The Birds 3 years later, with a much bigger production value. In The Birds we are in Bodega Bay, a small town on a bay near San Francisco, when the local birds start presenting a strange behavior. The Birds is an amazing and intense depiction of phobia, with Hitchcock presenting a type of horror new to the audience. The back story and the characters are very interesting, presenting a decent drama, as the movie doesn't focus only on the birds themselves. There is no musical score, adding to the heavy suspense these birds could create, a mark for the suspense/horror genre in the 60's. The Birds aged very well and is still a very valid proposition 50 years later. It is not called a masterpiece for nothing...
