The Cabit of Dr. Caligari - Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920)

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is one of the silent masterpieces that settled german expressionism as a form of art in cinema. When Dr. Caligari arrives in the town's fair, he sets a show where he wakes up an always dormant man who tells the audience their future. That's when murders start to happen. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is a visually stunning movie, presenting hand drawn sets that distort reality in the way scenarios are presented. Also, the movie is not really black and white, it is instead tinted in blue, orange and pink, playing with these colors accordingly to the mood of the scene, interior and exterior, or simply dark and light environments. The story is intriguing, dark fairy-tale like, and will grab you as an unique piece of art in exhibit, as the score (in this version composed by guitar, piano, bass, in a krautrock style) embraces you. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is one of the best movies ever and should be experienced by everyone at least once.
