Another movie misled by marketing. Black Snake moan is a solid drama between an old former blues man and a young nymphomaniac in Mississippi on the mid 90's, as the first tries to make the second a respectable woman through God's teachings. Although it has good stable performances (Justin Timberlake included), Black Snake Moan never tries to achieve a cult status, and it could. The filming is common, the script is good and it has some very inspired moments. The characters are complex and interesting, yet they are not deeply explored and this is a movie that asked for it. While watching it you really feel this is a good piece of film making, but at the end it feels flat and is easily forgettable.
